A Tuscan Rhône varietal? Yeah, that’s what I said when I came across this bottle for a steal during Last Bottle’s Marathon sale. The 2014 Monteverro Tinata Toscana is 70% Syrah and 30% Grenache. Expressive, aromatic and yet distinctly elegant and smooth. Aromas of of rose petals and blackberries with a touch of pepper. On the palate, raspberries and red cherries dominate with a hint of tobacco. In the land of Sangiovese, it’s refreshing to find this well-balanced unique gem, making it my pick of the week. But definitely let it open up before drinking.

“This has wonderful notes of fresh brambleberries, Chinese plums, Indian spices, forest floor, blueberry essence and violets. The palate is full and fruit-forward yet reserved and savory at the same time. So well structured. Such an enticing blend of syrah and grenache, as always.”
