4.5 Vivino Stars
Cool-climate Syrah fans, rejoice: We have a deal just for you—a big one. A 1.5-Liter Magnum, to be exact! Those undiscovered California treasures are still out there to be found, and this Pharaoh Moans Syrah has been unearthed! Harvested from a breezy, cooler vineyard in Paso, this 100% Syrah has both wine pros and casual drinkers swooning. Vinous calls it “hugely perfumed” and raves about its “superb definition and spicy lift,” in its 95-point rave. But Jeb Dunnuck fell hard: “The finest I’ve tasted from this estate,” he said in his 98-point knock-out review. Co-founder John Schwartz also produces Amuse Bouche, a stunning red, which you can buy in a regular 750ml bottle for $280. Or, today, you could try a MAGNUM of Pharaoh Moans for far, far less!” Only thing is… quantities are limited.
Jeb Dunnuck 98 Points
“Lots of spiced plums, orange blossom, spring flowers, peach (I’d swear there was Viognier in this blend) and peppery notes emerge from the 2018 Syrah. An exotic, full-bodied, seamless Syrah with ripe yet present tannins, no hard edges, and a great, great finish, it’s truly brilliant and the finest I’ve tasted from this estate. All Syrah from a mix of sites on the westside of Paso Robles, brought up in 60% new oak, it’s going to keep for 10-15 years.”
