The 2000 Clos du Marquis from Saint-Julien offers a dense, opaque purple hue with aromas of crème de cassis, vanilla, cherry, plum, spice, and meat, accented by hints of licorice.
On the palate, it delivers medium to full body, an unctuous texture, and firm yet velvety tannins that build to a big, rounded finish. Evolved more gracefully than its sibling Léoville Las Cases, it showcases classic Saint-Julien richness with notes of dark fruits, coffee, cedar, and earth. This sleeper of the vintage remains remarkably concentrated and stylish, with low acidity enhancing its chewy appeal.
Serve at 16–18°C and pair with grilled ribeye or aged Cheddar.
