The 2023 Martellotto Cabernet Sauvignon Bar None from Stag’s Leap District offers an inky, ruby-edged pour with bold aromas of black currant, cassis, black cherry, and plum, laced with roasted espresso, dark chocolate, and cedar from new French oak.
On the palate, ripe black fruits like raspberry compote and bright berries unfold with spicy clove, anise, graphite, earth, tobacco, and dusty cocoa, supported by firm yet refined tannins and bright acidity. The structure suggests 10-15 years of aging potential, with a lingering finish of cassis, cedar smoke, licorice, and espresso. This Stag’s Leap Cab echoes the district’s signature sour cherry and blackberry character, akin to the iconic 1973 Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars that stunned Bordeaux in the Judgment of Paris.
Serve at 60-65°F with grilled ribeye.
