Château Lafite Rothschild 2008 is a classic Pauillac showing cassis, cedar, cigar box, graphite, and a touch of tobacco, all carried on a very refined frame.
The palate is polished and layered, with ripe dark fruit, firm but fine tannins, and the kind of balance that keeps it feeling composed rather than heavy. It has the reserve and precision you expect from Lafite, with a long, subtle finish and plenty of cellar potential. In style, it can recall a more restrained, aristocratic Bordeaux than a plush modern blockbuster.
Serve with roast lamb, beef tenderloin, or a simply prepared venison dish.
