This 2021 Don Melchor is a full-bodied, dark purple Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile’s prized Puente Alto, offering tremendous aromatic complexity with pure blackcurrant, hints of black tea, refined woody notes, and gentle touches of plum and red bell pepper. In the mouth, it’s intense yet elegant, with rounded tannins, mild juiciness, and a palate that gradually deepens into cedar flavors before a long, rewarding finish. As Wine Spectator’s 2024 Wine of the Year, it channels the finesse of the vintage with rich, muscular edges and a base of graphite and cassis, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with top-tier Bordeaux in depth and harmony.
Serve it at 16–18°C and pair with lamb with peas and mint to let its layered flavors shine.
