The 2021 Luta “Rising” Pinot Noir from Nelson, New Zealand, opens with bright aromatics of tamarillo, strawberry, cherry, and violet, underscored by a hint of old wood and delicate smoky earth.
On the palate, it is plump and fleshy, dominated by vibrant red fruits that linger with notes of blueberry and vanilla pod, all rounded out by soft, plush tannins. Its texture is un-polished yet energetic, carrying a fresh pulse through the finish with fine, rounded tannins and lively acidity. While it has a bit more weight than some lighter Oregon Pinots, it shares that region’s red-fruit clarity and floral lift, offering a rustic charm without heaviness.
Serve this wine slightly cool at 55–60°F and pair it with grilled duck, herb-roasted pork, or a mushroom risotto to highlight its fleshy fruit and earthy undertones.
