2011 Pauillac is a classic, medium-bodied Left Bank red with a leaner frame than the most powerful Bordeaux vintages. It leans into blackcurrant, cherry, cedar, tobacco and spice, with fresh acidity and firm but polished tannins. The best bottles show good balance, lift and a savoury finish rather than sheer concentration, making the style feel closer to a restrained, elegant Pauillac than a blockbuster. In the right hands, it can evoke the disciplined profile of a younger, less opulent Lynch-Bages or Pichon-like expression.
Serve with roast lamb, duck breast, or grilled mushrooms.
