This 2022 Clos de Tavannes shows a refined, mid-weight style with black cherry, blackberry, violet, and a hint of spice and earth. It has good concentration without feeling heavy, with silky tannins, bright freshness, and a long, mineral-tinged finish. The wine is polished and balanced rather than forceful, with a quiet depth that recalls a more elegant side of red Burgundy. It should drink well after a short decant now, but will also benefit from a few years in bottle.
Serve with roast duck, herb-crusted pork, or mushroom risotto.
