Ripe red and black berries lead the way, with anise, pepper, and a savory mineral edge that reflects Rinaldi Vineyard’s old vines and Amador County’s granite soils. The wine is full-bodied but stays reasonably focused, with bright acidity and firm, fine-grained tannins keeping the fruit in check. A little dust, spice, and dried herb character add complexity without pushing it into excess. It has the generous, powerful feel of classic old-vine California Zinfandel, but with enough balance to stay food-friendly.
Serve it with grilled lamb chops or barbecue ribs.
