If you haven’t tried Croatian wine before, now is the time. But don’t take my word for it, Wine Enthusiast just gave 4 Croatian wineries high praise. And one wine VERY high praise, to the tune of 97 points.

I got hooked on Croatian wine a few years back when visiting a local wine shop that specializes in Croatian, Greek, and Slovenian wines. I was looking for something unexpected but didn’t realize I was also going to be blown away. The QPR is insane! The indigenous grape varietals are unique (names like Plavac Mali, Pošip, Malvazija Istarska, and Graševina). Never heard of them? Don’t worry, neither had I! And the history of winemaking; we’re talking 2,500 years dating back to the Ancient Greek settlers.

As the wine world continues to travel down the unbeaten path in search of the next best unknown, Croatia is just around that corner. So, listen up. Now is our time to get ahead of that curve and jump on some amazing opportunities before everyone else hears about them — and prices go up and inventory down!

Below are the wines that just recently made the Wine Enthusiast grade, but keep in mind there are so many more that are still waiting to be introduced to the West. Happy Hunting!
