The 2017 Heitz Cellar Martha’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is a polished, Old-World–styled Napa Cabernet that balances concentrated dark fruit with a crisp, mineral-driven backbone. It shows cassis and black cherry framed by minty eucalyptus and bay-leaf aromatic lift, with layers of cedar, dark chocolate and a touch of savory leather. Medium‑to‑full bodied and firmly structured, the tannins are refined and there’s a lingering, silky finish that suggests further cellar potential. Reminiscent in pedigree and restraint of classic Napa greats from Oakville, it reads more elegant than overtly ripe.
Serve slightly below room temperature with grilled ribeye or a herb-roasted lamb shoulder.
