Wine of The Decade. Yes, you heard that right. James Suckling named this wine his wine OF THE DECADE.
Almaviva is co-owned by Vina Concha y Toro and Bordeaux’s Rothschild Family — who wanted to create a 1st growth in Chile, just as they have with Chateau Mouton Rothschild in Bordeaux and Opus One in California.
Often referred to as the “Opus One of Chile,” James Suckling gave it a 100-point rating and said this:
” The aromas of blackberry leaves and iodine are wild and exotic here with mussel shells and earth underneath. Full-bodied, tight and chewy with powerful tannins that show muscle. It’s structured and powerful. Dense and very, very deep. Don’t touch this until 2025.”
For fans of opulent, powerful Cabernet based wines, the 2017 Almaviva is a dream-buy. Enjoy!
