The 2023 ‘Westering’ Mendocino Ridge Pinot Noir is a lifted, coastal style of Pinot with bright red cherry, wild strawberry, and a hint of pomegranate on the nose.
On the palate it’s medium-bodied and finely etched, with cool-climate freshness, subtle spice, and a gentle earthiness that recalls redwood forest and coastal air. The texture is silky rather than heavy, in the vein of elegant Burgundy from Chambolle-Musigny more than rich Sonoma styles. Tannins are polished, making it easy to enjoy now while still having the structure to reward a bit of cellaring. Pour slightly cool alongside roast salmon with herbs, duck breast, or a mushroom and thyme tart.
