Château Mouton Rothschild 2003 is a rich, powerful Pauillac that shows ripe blackcurrant, cassis, cedar, and graphite, with hints of tobacco, spice, and dark chocolate. Despite the hot vintage, it retains the estate’s signature polish, with a dense core and fine, well-managed tannins. The wine is generous and layered rather than austere, and its mature fruit is now framed by savory complexity. It can feel a bit more opulent than some classic Left Bank styles, but it still keeps enough freshness to stay balanced.
Serve with roast lamb, beef Wellington, or other richly flavored red-meat dishes.
