Lifted from a rare California négrette site in San Benito, this wine is light on its feet but not simple, with black raspberry, violet, spearmint, and alpine herb notes.
The palate should read as fresh and finely textured, with a savory edge that keeps the fruit from becoming lush or heavy. Its cool-climate feel and subtle herbal lift can make it a little reminiscent of a restrained Loire red or a softly structured Grenache, though with a more distinctive, floral-spiced profile. Best enjoyed slightly chilled to highlight its aromatic detail and lively balance.
Serve with roast chicken, grilled mushrooms, or herbed pork tenderloin.
