Geografico is one of Tuscany’s oldest and most esteemed cooperative producers, founded in 1961 in the village of Gaiole in Chianti by a band of 17 patriotic wine growers who were determined to take back the reputation of Tuscany fine wine. With the recent investment by Tenute Piccini (who have been in the Tuscan wine business for nearly 140 years), Geografico has had another quality resurgence, producing notable, immediately enjoyable wines that far outperform their modest price-points.
James Suckling 92 Points
A nicely crafted red with crushed berries, flowers and sandalwood. It’s full-bodied with creamy and chewy tannins and a flavorful finish. Drinkable now, but a year or two will soften it. Try after 2022.
