The 2013 Screaming Eagle Second Flight Bordeaux Blend from Oakville is a full-bodied, richly concentrated wine dominated by 65% Merlot, complemented by Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. It offers a complex bouquet of spiced blueberries, black forest cake, preserved plums, and hints of lavender, mint, and floral notes, balanced by firm, grainy tannins and a fresh, savory finish. This vintage is more restrained and Bordeaux-like compared to the flamboyant 2012, showcasing elegant layers of red and black currant, licorice, and earthy undertones. The wine has excellent aging potential, with a long, flavorful finish and a fabulous mouthfeel.
Serve it with hearty dishes such as roasted lamb or beef to complement its structure and depth.
