Rarely are wines so perfectly named as the 2020 Synthesis, the flagship Cabernet from Martin Ray Vineyards. This red gets its moniker from the blend of top-notch Napa vineyard its fruit is sourced from, including the rugged hillsides of Howell Mountain, Stag’s Leap, and Diamond Mountain, and the lush, sun-drenched vines of Rutherford and Oakville.
This Cabernet is built specifically to showcase what makes Napa great, while staying true to the nuances of each special vintage. It’s a gorgeous melding of firm structure and supple, plush textures. The winemakers bring a mind-meld of experience to the table, too. The dream team includes Hawaii’s Leslie Mead Renaud (winemaker), assistant winemaker Raemy Paterson (of Mumm Napa, Ridge, and Jordan), and Phillip Melka-trained 100-point consulting winemaker Keith Emerson (of Cakebread, Vineyard 29, and Gundlach Bundschu)!
James Suckling 93 Points
Pretty aromas of blueberries, blackcurrants, cassis and mint chocolate. Light hazelnut character. Medium-bodied with a creamy palate and a velvety tannin texture. Plush, yet fresh. So drinkable. Drink or hold.
