4.5 Vivino Stars
Hurry — That’s the best advice we can give when it comes to Giustini’s lusciously rich, gorgeously fragrant “Ad Hoc” Primitivo. Vivino has the 2020 release of this Italian cousin of Zinfandel for 36% off the winery’s asking price. And while that’s reason enough to grab it now, there’s an even better reason to stock up: only tiny amounts of this red ever make it to the U.S.
Led by the father and son team of Giuseppe and Salvatore Papadopoli, Tenuta Giustini Vecchio began as little more than a dream when it was founded in 2006, south of Apulia. By 2015, they had realized their dream of opening their own winery, and now distribute their wares from Italy’s Salento to more than 20 countries worldwide (a tiny fraction comes to the US!). The Papadopoli’s sense of unwavering optimism and determination—and the special terroir of their sun-drenched southern Italian vines—is evident in every bottle from Giustini Vecchio.
