There are times in life when you sit up and pay attention to Willamette Valley Riesling. That time is today. Winemaker James Frey was mentored by Josh Bergström (of Oregon’s famous Bergström winery) and by Burgundy’s Jacques Lardiere. With balance, verve, and versatility, Oregon Riesling is “one of the great, under-the-radar values” of the state, according to Food & Wine, which recommends Frey’s wine in particular!

Extra tart, even in a lineup of four quite dry Rieslings from Trisaetum, this mixes green apple fruit with wintergreen mint, Asian pear and ginger. It’s bright and spicy, unique in its components. It would make an interesting match to sushi.
