After putting pen to paper on our last article covering the wine critics’ top deals in 2022, we decided to create our own list!
We tallied all 3,200+ deals featured on Wine Bounty in 2022 (yep, that’s right!) and whittled it down to those deals with 60%+ off AND 95+ point rating. This was the sweet clear spot. The number of deals went up considerably when you toggled the discount or rating slightly lower (even at 59% off!).
Unsurprisingly, when we hit 99-100 pts. there were no deals in this range. There were two 100-point ratings in the 40% off range and three 99-point ratings in the 50% off range. Of course, there were lots of 99-100 point deals just south of this discount range but we’re only talking about the biggest deals here! In case you’re curious, here’s the list of wines.

We also found two killer deals just south of 95 points with over 80% off! These were the biggest discounts of 2022 for a wine that had a critic rating. Period.

Okay, now with those outliers out of the way, let’s turn to the meat of the article. There were 61 wines that met our sweet spot of 95+ points and 60%+ off. The breakdown was as follows.
The Stats: Wine Bounty Featured Wines Rated 95-97 Points AND 60% Or More Off in 2022
The vast majority of wines were red.
Italy, France, and the United States dominated. Interestingly, Last Bottle and Wine Spies dominated on domestic wine offerings in this range and WTSO was the clear frontrunner on international. In terms of ranking by volume, WTSO dominated with over half, followed by Last Bottle, then Wine Spies, and finally Vivino. The other featured sites where we find great deals fell just short of this range for the wines featured, but still had plenty of amazing deals.
As for format size, 750ml dominated.
